The oud is surprisingly non-assertive in this composition, lying quietly tucked away in the folds of other smoky woods rather than standing proud. The opening is a light rustle of citrus and herbs leading to a cool pink rose heart, sweetened with a nutty ‘patisserie’ accord recalling the texture of sugared almonds. This pastry accord thickens into something approaching the mouthwatering smell of sweet bread dipped in cinnamon-flecked milk.
